Queen Mary Association

In 2004 a handful of former seamen from the original Queen Mary met in a pub in Southampton (The Cowherds) with the intention of having a beer, a chat about yesterday & perhaps meeting on a regular basis. All 29 of us thought it a good idea that is until we met again two months later (again at The Cowherds) and there were too many of us to get into the pub!

Something had to been done quickly to find a place that could take a lot more people so we formed a Committee with a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, web site manager & a couple more to help out and Pirrie Park Bowling Club in Shirley was able to help accommodate us. Today, 14 years later, we have 300 members from all over the world.

We meet 4 times a year at the Bowling Club plus a Saturday Christmas lunch and regularly have around 100 people sitting down to a buffet lunch. Meetings are on a Tuesday and start at 10:30am. Dates for 2019 are as follows: 15th January, 9th April, 9th July, 15th October. Christmas lunch in on Saturday 7th December 2019.

There is a bar at the Bowling Club plus we have a raffle with prizes donated by the members. In August we have reserved 50 places on a Blue Funnel ship to watch the three Queens + another cruise liner leave Southampton.

The subs are only £10 per year. Most of our members are ex crew plus a number of enthusiasts. We also have guest speakers & many friends from America visit us.
