  5. Ensure a consistent brand image across all advertising. It helps build recognition/recall.
  6. Understand that effective advertising does have a cost - you have to spend money to make money.
  7. If your business is seasonal, make sure you are seen when it matters. Don't stop when things are quiet!
  8. Advertise in the right places and ensure a variety of media is used.
  9. Ask how new customers heard about you so you know which advertising is working.
