Armed Forces Day

Saturday 30th June, 10.30am–4pm

A fun, family event to celebrate the role of the Armed Forces is being held at Royal Victoria Country Park, which was once the home of the world’s largest, purpose-built military hospital. Marking the hospital’s role in both World Wars, we are being joined by re-enactors ‘Wenches in Trenches’ with a WW1 tented hospital and medical instruments, and ‘Hysterical History’ who will help visitors get to grips with the dicey world of WW2 bomb disposal!

The event will also feature a number of museums, including the Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum, Museum of Military History and British Red Cross Museum, as well as other local heritage organisations and charities connected with the military or role of the hospital.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Ocean Brass and there will also be family activities, including guided walks, storytelling, carriage rides, inflatables and face painting. Entry is free, but normal car parking charges apply and some activities may carry an additional charge.
