Southampton City Libraries Christmas Hours

Southampton City Libraries will be closed between Christmas and New Year to support the government’s aim to be safe this Christmas. This period is a very quiet time in libraries with our services being lower on residents’ priority lists than the rest of the year. In line with Public Health England and Government advice, in the new year we will endeavour to extend opening hours, especially on Saturdays and evenings and re-introduce more activities in libraries.

All council run libraries will close at 5pm on Wednesday 23 December 2020 and re-open at 10am on Saturday 2 January 2021.

Burgess Road, Cobbett Hub and YMCA Weston Community libraries will be closed from Monday 21 December 2020 and re-open on Monday 4 January 2021.

No items are due for return during this period.

Customers are invited to borrow extra books when visiting our libraries before 23 December to enjoy through the Christmas and New Year closure.

Our Digital Library will continue to offer newspapers, magazines, e-books and e-audiobooks as well as many other useful resources.

Our regular online events including rhyme and story times, quizzes and craft activities will be offered throughout the festive period. To ensure you don’t miss out, follow us on social media, @SouthamptonCityLibraries on Facebook and @SotonLibraries on Twitter.
