Deadline: apply anytime until 4th August, decisions made monthly
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower and her sister ship, The Speedwell, leaving Southampton for the New World. Since the programme launched in November 2019, the Covid 19 pandemic has forced all events to be put on hold, but partners across the city and UK remain hopeful that they will be able to deliver parts of the programme in the autumn or in spring next year.
Grants of between £1,000 and £3,000 are now available to enable Southampton communities to deliver activities as part of the Mayflower 400 anniversary.
Southampton residents are encouraged to explore their heritage, as well as the heritage of their community and the City. This could be anything from a quilt that tells the story of your community’s journey to Southampton, a digital project collecting memories of your community, holding an online exhibition about the history of your faith building and its congregation, or running talks and events about heritage that is important to you.
This grant is provided through combined funds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Southampton City Council.
