Council looking for coronavirus Local Heroes

Has someone you know been a Local Hero during the coronavirus crisis?

Eastleigh Borough Council is encouraging residents to nominate individuals and groups who have given their time to help others in their local community during the pandemic.

This year has been challenging for many people across the Borough as coronavirus has continued to have an impact on day to day life; it has also brought people together and has seen people go above and beyond to help others.

People are being asked to share the stories of kindness and creativity that they have experienced from others during the last few months so that the individuals, groups and voluntary organisations can be celebrated for their help and support during this challenging time.

As a community, people in the Borough have pulled together to support each other during this time, whether they are vulnerable and shielding or a struggling small business the Council is giving people in the Borough the chance to nominate their ‘Local Hero’.

The Mayor of Eastleigh Borough, Councillor Darshan Mann, said: “Acts of kindness, such as providing essential supplies for those shielding or self-isolating, keeping open spaces accessible for others or checking in on somebody living on their own, have continued to make a huge difference to people’s lives in Eastleigh Borough. There has never been a more important time to take care of the wellbeing of our community, which is why the Council wants to commend those who support others.” If you have encountered someone who you think deserves recognition for their efforts please visit our website eastleigh.gov.uk/local-heroes to find out how you can submit your stories and details of the individuals.
