World Premier for Hamble!

9-13 April. Hamble Memorial Hall

A world premiere is to be staged in Hamble this Spring, when Hamble Players will debut ‘The Last Talent Show.’

Hamble resident John Quinn has written the comedy/drama with The Players especially in mind. It tells the story of a national talent show that is struggling to find great acts or, even, an audience.

Finally, near bankruptcy forces the organiser to move the talent show’s grand final from London’s O2 to The Memorial Hall in Hamble, with amazing and amusing results!

John, who wrote the play with colleague Barrie Tracey, said: ‘We hope everyone will agree that “The Last Talent Show” is great fun, with lots of action, comedy and pathos. The play examines the cost people are prepared to pay for their 15 minutes of fame, and also the unexpected demands celebrity makes on them, but it’s never far from drawing a gasp or raising a smile.

‘I’ve been a fan of Hamble Players for many, many years so I jumped at the chance to work with them. The play has a large cast and is technically challenging for the backstage crew, but everyone has embraced the play enthusiastically.’

‘The Last Talent Show’ runs from 9-13 April, tickets are on sale now. There have been theatrical productions staged in Hamble since 1920 and the Hamble Players have been delivering great amateur theatre since 1955!
