Eastleigh Men’s Shed needs a new home

Eastleigh Men’s Shed, formed in 2014, is part of a national association developed to give men a space where they feel at home to pursue practical interests. It supports social interaction specifically addressing issues of isolation, loneliness and depression. The group now has 26 active members that meet regularly Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm to work on their various community projects.

Completed projects include “Fordy” the planter in the shape of a 5 metre long train at Chandler’s Ford station. They also run a “Repair Café” at Pilands Wood Community Centre 2-4pm on the first Thursday of every month and are building new interpretation boards to promote the Strawberry Trail that runs through Hound.

The Shed needs to move and we are asking anyone to get in contact if they can offer a more permanent space to set up. Andi Saunders, Treasurer of the group said “We need an area of about 40 m sq - big enough for a large workshop and also some parking.” If you can help or are interested in joining the group contact Andi on 01489 786750 or 07547 918966.
