The Hamble River Raid was conceived some 17 years ago to raise funds for the Hamble Sea Scouts and other local worthy causes. It has subsequently grown to be a major annual spectacle uniting the local community and those from further afield in healthy fun on the River Hamble. It has become one of the largest rowing and kayaking events on the South Coast.
Over the years we have been supported by many inspiring members of our community who have started the race and helped to run the event. The event has evolved with enhanced time keeping and a loudspeaker system to keep spectators and competitors informed and has traditionally seen spectators lining Hamble Quay to watch over 100 competing craft.
Regrettably COVID forced the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 race, however, the event bounced back in 2022 bigger and better than ever.
In addition to Rowing boats, we welcome any form of human powered craft, including kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards and craft such as outrigger canoes.
For more details, check out our website at www.hambleriverraid.org. The River Raid could not happen without the support of a dedicated band of volunteers, the Hamble Parish Council and River Hamble Harbourmaster, the Jolly Sailor and of course the competitors. Thank you all for taking part and making it the success it is.
