Come Rowing - Have a go!

Open Day - 28 April

The Members of Hamble River Rowing Club invite anyone who would like to try their hand at rowing to join us during our Open Day on Saturday 28 April anytime from 11am-3pm at the club base, the Jolly Sailor Pub, Bursledon SO31 8ND. Come down to the pontoon to try rowing with experienced members; you should be on the water within 10 minutes of arriving. Complete beginners are very welcome and we can promise you will have fun learning to row!

The Club has been going for 8 years, with the aim of promoting recreational rowing on the River Hamble. We row Bursledon Gigs, very stable boats which take four rowers and a cox. In the summer, up to 50 people can row at our social rowing Tuesday evenings. Some become supper rows, for a curry in Botley or a steak in Hamble. Sunday morning rowing is popular right through the year with up to four boats rowing down to Hamble for coffee, or up river to the Horse and Jockey at Curbridge.

Some members enjoy friendly competition and take part in the Hamble River Raid, Netley and Bursledon Regattas and the Thames Great River Race. New expeditions are in planning, with Keyhaven, Langstone Harbour, Beaulieu River, Yarmouth and Hythe as tempting destinations.

Come along to out Open Day on 28 April to try rowing and to find out what this sociable club does. If you can’t come then, come along after 6pm on Tuesday 8 May for our ‘Open Evening’. See other Tuesday evenings we row on the Diary at: www.hambleriverrowing.co.uk
