Market Traders and B&B owners among the businesses urged to apply for grants

Market Traders and B&B owners are among the businesses in Eastleigh Borough to receive the support they need, thanks to a new grant fund administered by The Council.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the government had previously launched support for small businesses, and businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, delivered through the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grant Fund. Our Economy Team is now able to administer more funds and distribute the payments to businesses in need who were not previously eligible for grants.

Following guidance from central government we have changed the eligibility criteria to allow those eligible for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme to apply for discretionary grants.

This funding is aimed at small businesses that were not eligible for the Small Business Grant Fund. It targets small businesses with ongoing fixed property-related costs, and loss of income. The funding allocation of £969,250 will help around 150 local businesses.

We would like to remind Bed and Breakfasts and Market Traders – two categories specifically identified as priority groups for the discretionary grants - to ensure they apply for this additional support.

Deadline for applications is 12 June, find out how to apply and more here.
